Lots has been happening at Starlite,
and it’s only just begun! We started off the second half of
our year by volunteering at Second Harvest Foodbank on March
3rd; we had eleven members spend two hours checking food for
expiration dates and repackaging. All agreed we should do
this again in the future. Many of our members continue to
volunteer at the Kohl Center for hockey games and other
events, such as the boys state basketball tournament. Please
contact Gail Piper or Debbie Holum for information. On March
19th, we honored Brother Jim Moore, aka Uncle Sam, as Grand
Representative to District of Columbia. “Uncle Sam” was the
contestant on “Deal or No Deal”; unfortunately he didn’t win
the coveted $20! But, all 60+ in attendance had a fun,
enjoyable evening. At our short meeting prior to the
festivities, we had a brief update from our trustees
regarding their meeting with Doric trustees on the new
lodge. Please forward any questions, comments or concerns to
our trustees, Laverne Storkson, Carla Lewiston or Sheri
Severson. More to come.
Our meeting on April 2nd will be
elections and on April 16th, we’ll have Friends Night;
please invite and/or offer a ride to some of those that have
not attended for awhile. Our first meeting in May, we will
be honoring Secretaries and Treasurers. And, another
reminder to mark your calendars for Grand Chapter on May
20-22 at the Holiday Inn Convention Center in Stevens Point.
Another date to reserve… July 12th, Party for our new WGM,
Kris Engbring and WGP, Ron Rasmussen at the Crowne Plaza, E.
Washington Avenue, Madison. The excitement is building as
Kris and Ron begin to announce their appointed ten…. Watch
the Wisconsin OES Website for updates; www.wisconsinoes.org.
Think Spring, as we are enjoying yet another “winter storm”
on this second day of Spring! And, remember, make Starlite
“the place to be” on the first and third Wednesdays each
month. We look forward to seeing you soon.
