April 2009

From The East

Brethren:

At our April 21st meeting we will be hearing from Robert Messer of Wisconsin DeMolay on forming a DeMolay chapter at Doric. You may recall we passed a resolution to sponsor a chapter a while back, so we’re going to find out what it’ll take. If you’re interested in helping out, please try to make the meeting or let me know.

On Saturday, April 25th at 8:30 AM; we will be presenting the Second Section of the Master Mason degree at the School of Instruction in Columbus. If you’d like to carpool, meet us at Doric at 7:30 AM.

The Trustees have requested some assistance with Spring maintenance on our property. On Saturday, May 2nd at 9:00 AM, we’ll get together at Doric to rototill the dirt mounds, do a little raking, pick up litter, and sweep up a little. Shouldn’t be a lot of work if we can get a few brothers there to help out. We also need to plant some grass seed, some annuals, and some small shrubs. If you own a rototiller we can use or can donate any of the above mentioned materials, please let me know.

I suspect we’ll read Grand Lodge resolutions and do some degree work in May. I’m also planning on a group trip to see the movie “Angels and Demons”, which is the sequel to “The Da Vinci Code”, on Saturday, May 16th. I hope to have specifics in the May Trestle-Board, but it will likely be a showing after 1:00 PM. We’ll talk about our impressions of the film and how it treats the subject of Freemasonry at our Stated Communication the following Tuesday (May 19th).

Also in May, Hiram Lodge No. 50 is hosting a table lodge on Monday, May 11th at 6:30 PM. Please let me know if you’re planning on going or you can RSVP directly to Hiram 50’s Secretary, Ted Erickson.

In July we’ll have our Chicken/Brat BBQ on Saturday, July 25th at Noon. There is also a combined Scottish Rite/blue lodge/Shrine golf outing on Thursday, July 16th. Golf ($25) will start at Noon; dinner ($13) will be at 6 PM. More details in May or June’s Trestle-Board on both events.

The coffee klatch events are moving to Thursday mornings and will resume in early June. First one will probably be June 4th -- but stay tuned.

As always, please see the website at www.doriclodge.com for the latest news.

If you have an event you’d like to see or wish to talk to me about any topic; please call or email me. My phone number is (608) 274-4430 and my email address is master@doric356.com. I have a second line at (608) 721-0998 available for leaving messages 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Hope to see you in lodge!
