March 2009

From The East

Brethren:

Our next stated communication is on Tuesday, March 3rd, at 7:30 PM. At that meeting we will vote on the bylaws change that was read at our last business meeting to move our meetings from 7:30 PM to 7:00 PM.  We may also be visited by brothers from Middleton Ionic Lodge.

We’re going to have a table lodge at our March 17th stated communication.  A table lodge is a tiled lodge opened on the Entered Apprentice degree -- so all initiated brothers and fellows are welcome as well.  With it being St. Patrick’s Day, we’ll have a themed meal of corned beef & cabbage, potatoes, and various beverages both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We will be happy to accommodate alternative menus -- please let me know if you have any special dietary needs or desires.  The start time will be 7:00 PM.  If the resolution to change our normal meeting time does not pass on March 3rd, we will seek dispensation to begin at that time.  The cost will be $10 per brother.  Bring your favorite toasting cannon and invite other brothers you know to join us!

PLEASE RSVP by Saturday, March 14th to ensure we have appropriate quantities of food and drink available.  You may call my second line, (608) 721-0998, any time of the day or night to leave or modify your RSVP.  You may also email me or call my home line.

** Please note that it may be necessary for us to retire to the lodge room after the dinner briefly to open as Master Masons in order to vote on some petitions I expect to be presented on March 3rd. **

At one or both April meetings; I expect we’ll be doing degree work.  We have several brothers in various stages of the degrees and some to vote on and initiate (and I think one or two to read and investigate -- hence the reason we may need to open as MMs briefly following the table lodge on March 17th.  More on April’s schedule will be in the next Trestle-Board.

On Saturday, April 25th at 8:30 AM; we will be presenting the Second Section of the Master Mason degree at the School of Instruction in Columbus.

Lastly, thanks to the officers and visiting brethren who helped make our last MM degree such a huge success.  It was wonderful to see the lodge room packed with brethren. Brethren from Waterloo even came and took the travelling gavel.

As always, please see the website at www.doriclodge.com for the latest news.

If you have an event you’d like to see or wish to talk to me about any topic; please call or email me.  My phone number is (608) 274-4430 and my email address is master@doric356.com.  I have a second line at (608) 721-0998 available for leaving messages 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Hope to see you in lodge!
