June 2008

From The East

We are into spring and our building is in order thanks to all the hard work of our Trustees. Give them a big thanks when you see them. We are in the posting process of our new brothers and will be doing some FC degrees this month and we are always looking for help and support from the membership.

June will be a busy month for Doric. Our first meeting will be some planning for our Cornerstone event along with our summer chicken dinner, details to follow. Grand Lodge will be the first weekend of June. In July, we will hold our first Doric golf outing so get the clubs out and join in the fun. In August, we will be working at the VA again as escorts. Please give me a call if you could assist.

GOLF OUTING
The Doric Golf and Dinner Outing will be held on Sunday July 27, at the Bridges Golf Course on Hwy 30 and Shopko Drive. The outing is open to anyone so bring the family and all your friends. Bring your own foursome or we can make some up. The Rate for 9 holes is $15 without cart and $22 with cart. Tee times begin at 3:12 pm and we will play 9 holes this year. Participants may play golf only, play golf and dinner, or dinner only. Dinner will follow at about 6 at the Bridges and we will order off the menu. Please send reservations to Paul Hallingstad by Sunday July 13. You can contact him by e-mail at pdhjmh (at) charter.net / phone 318-0412.

CHICKEN DINNER
The summer Chicken Dinner will be a Grill-Out on Saturday, August 16 from Noon - 2:00 pm at Doric. There will be brats, burgers and grilled chicken. The sides will be beans, potato salad, and cole slaw with chips. Desserts are always around.

We need volunteers to bring grills, to tend the grills, and to bring the sides. The sign up is in the Lodge or by contacting Greg by e-mail at doric (at) gregcorey.com / phone 274-4430.

CORNERSTONE
This will be a very special day for Doric on Tuesday, June 17. There will be a dinner for those who wish at 6:00 pm. Reservations are a MUST for the dinner.  RSVP by Tuesday, June 10 to either Dale Holmen by e-mail at holmendd (at) aol.com / phone 241-4751 or Greg Corey (see above contact info) with total number of people eating. The cost for dinner is $10.

The ceremony will begin at 7:30 pm with a public opening so bring your family, friends, and neighbors. Tell every Mason you know that I would like to fill the house that night. The Grand Line Officers will conduct the ceremony. I want to take pictures of these different groups: Past Masters, all 50 plus year members, all Doric members. These pictures will be placed behind our plaque for years to come. Come and be a part of this as we hope this will be a once in a lifetime event at Doric.

As you can see we will be busy and always want you to be a part of this Lodge. Come and join the fun and be a part of the Doric family.
